Abstract

This study revisits and revises Pérez Vidal’s (2014) framework of variables influencing language learning during study abroad. Drawing on an ecological perspective of language learning (van Lier, 2010) and recent empirical research, it proposes a dynamic framework of international student mobility that integrates newly salient variables. The revised framework emphasises the interdependence of contextual, individual, programmatic, and social dimensions.
